New tangle Quandry; The Diva's challenge # 107

Another Monday has come and gone and we have a new tangle from Zentangle originators Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts

The Diva's Challenge is to use this tangle including variations.  Had my opportunity today to grab my micron, my journal, "string up" and get tangling...

...and now back to work.

Thanks for visiting and I appreciate your comments =}

Spring Cleaning?

Every Inchie Monday Challenge this week is "broom"

Here in Central Washington, US the snow is finally melting, the sun has been shining and the promise of Spring has been in the air..... a bit messy with all the melted snow and dust and gravel so "broom" is an entirely appropriate theme :]

(my backyard this am & the threat of more snow, the last few days were a tease of Spring)

I have to admit I really had to think a bit about this theme, but isn't that the point of a challenge?  Of course after checking out a couple of the great Inchies already posted the ideas started to come together....
Broom:  dust bunny fear

I used textured paper from my stash for the base, cut out the shape of the boom head and "fringed" the edge, drew eyes, eyebrows and mouth with a silver paint marker.  On the square I drew little bunny shapes and smudged the silver paint marker on the edges the glued on the broom.
This gives a little perspective to how tiny an inch of art is.
I am not very pleased with my lettering - I find it challenging to fit in the small space...practice, practice, practice.

Please be sure to check out other Every Inchie Monday "brooms"

Happiness

Every Inchie Monday Cahallenge: Happiness

Returning from a 4 day "Mother & Daughter Girls Camp", happiness is such an appropriate theme.  What could better than spending time with Girl Friends, sharing craft tips & techniques, memories, karaoke  and laughter...good times!!
"Happiness is the little joys in life"

I used the tangle popsicles and colored pencils with happy colors - inspired by delight in finding a small flower at the end of a cold winter.

Just another Monday ..

Well actually it's Tuesday, nonetheless another Monday challenge...

1st I have "Every Inchie Monday" theme word ruin.
I decided I would approach this with a Zentangle*  technique - no preconceived outcome & use tangles that made me think of old ruins. A little too esoteric??

Here is my finished piece, a little blurry as I have difficulty getting a clear focus.  I guess I  was thinking Ancient Egyptian ruins - pyramids, pharoahs & mysteries.

Now for the weekly Challenge from I am the Diva .

Challenge #105 uses the tangle Dansk.  Once I completed my "tile" ( I use my journal and a 3.5" sq border), I realized I had been influenced by Laura's use of prestwood  as well as dansk.

Laura is also giving away a Tangle a Day calendar, so post a comment on her blog for a chance to win!
